What if the key to transforming your life is shifting your energy? And what if you could get the insights you need through the Energy Leadership Index?
If you’re a self-help obsessed, personal development junkie (like me), you’ve probably taken every assessment under the sun – the Meyers-Briggs, CliftonStrengths, Enneagram, and DiSC. But this one is different…
The Energy Leadership Index (ELI) is not your average assessment. Think of it as an energetic MRI. It shows how you think, lead, handle stress, and show up…in life, work, and relationships. And most importantly, it gives you insights to align your energy with the type of life you want to create.
Let’s dive deeper into how the ELI works and how it will help you create more fulfillment.
What is the Energy Leadership Index (ELI)?
Imagine wearing a pair of sunglasses tinted by your past experiences, fears, and beliefs. That tint influences how you see the world, think, respond, and lead. The Energy Leadership Index (ELI) reveals the color of your lenses and how they’re impacting your results in life. In short, it shows how your energy (not just your effort) is influencing your life.
Most assessments are personality-based, measuring traits that tend to stay the same over time, like whether you’re more introverted or analytical. While these insights are helpful, they describe who you are, not how you’re showing up.
The ELI is an attitudinal assessment, meaning that it measures your current mindset, patterns, and energetic state. With awareness, intention, and a bit of work, each of these things can evolve over time. That’s the magic of the ELI: your attitude isn’t fixed.
This tool doesn’t just reveal your default way of being – it helps you upgrade your internal operating system, so you can lead yourself (and others) from a more conscious, empowered place.
How to Take the Energy Leadership Index (ELI)
The ELI assessment can only be administered by an iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching) certified coach. It’s not your typical online quiz or personality test.
- The ELI isn’t about labeling you. It’s about giving you a meaningful reflection of your energy, mindset, and leadership. It requires a trained coach to interpret the results and help you make real, lasting shifts. It’s important to know that no result is “good” or “bad.”
- You won’t find this on a free app or website. The ELI is intentionally kept out of mass-market tools, so that it’s delivered with depth, safety, and professional coaching insight.
- Unlike typical assessments, you don’t walk away with a score – you walk away with understanding. The power of the ELI lies in the guided conversation that follows, where an iPEC-certified coach helps you unpack what your results really mean (and what to do with them).
Should you take the ELI assessment with me, here’s what you can expect:
- Receive access to an online assessment that you can complete in 20-30 minutes.
- Receive a detailed report explaining your current energy levels in everyday life and under stress. This is a resource that you can revisit over time.
- Schedule a one-on-one debrief with me, where we discuss the framework, your results, and how you can apply the insights to transform your life.

What Does the Energy Leadership Index (ELI) Actually Measure?
The ELI measures seven levels of energy within each of us, at different amounts. These levels reflect how we think, feel, and respond, both when life is going smoothly and when we’re under stress.
Some energy levels are catabolic, meaning they’re draining, contracting, and reactive. Others are anabolic – constructive, healing, and growth-oriented.
Both types of energy have a purpose. But the more awareness you have about how you’re operating, the more choice you have in how you lead, respond, and create change.
In other words, the ELI helps you see where your energy is helping you, and where it might be holding you back.
The 7 Levels of Energy
Level 1: Victim Energy
At this level, you may feel overwhelmed, fearful, or disengaged. The focus is on what’s going wrong , and it can feel like life is happening to you. Many people in Level 1 feel paralyzed by their circumstances and unsure how to move forward.
Level 2: Conflict Energy
This is the energy of anger, frustration, blame, and competition. It’s a push-forward, “me vs. them” mindset. While this level can create results through force, it’s often draining and unsustainable (for you and the people around you).
Level 3: Responsibility Energy
Here, you begin to take more ownership, but often by rationalizing, tolerating, or compromising. Level 3 helps you cope, but it can also keep you stuck in situations that don’t truly serve you because you’re “managing” instead of thriving.
Level 4: Concern Energy
This is the caregiver’s energy – loving, supportive, and service-driven. The focus is on others, often at your own expense. While beautiful, staying in this energy too long can lead to burnout, especially if boundaries aren’t in place.
Level 5: Reconciliation Energy
This level sees opportunity in challenge. Instead of judging a situation, you stay open and curious. You believe in creating win-wins and see setbacks as simply part of the process. It’s an empowering and creative place to lead from.
Level 6: Synthesis Energy
You’re tapped into purpose, intuition, and flow. You find purpose in all circumstances, accepting and trusting that life is always giving you what you need. People operating at this level tend to inspire others just by being who they are.
Level 7: Non-judgment Energy
This is the level of pure consciousness. There’s no fear, judgment, or attachment. At Level 7, you’re able to experience life exactly as it is, without resistance, and create from a space of total freedom.
We all move through these levels daily…sometimes hourly.
The ELI shows you your current pattern, especially under stress, and gives you the awareness to shift into a higher, more empowered state. That’s how you stop reacting, and start leading your life!
How to Use the ELI Results
The ELI supports the very first phase of the ALIGN framework: Awareness. Because you can’t shift what you aren’t conscious of!
ELI results have helped my clients:
- Identify the default energy patterns that shape their thoughts, emotions, and actions

- Start making intentional choices about they you want to show up in their relationships, work, and day-to-day life
This awareness becomes your foundation. When coupled with personalized coaching, it gives you the clarity and confidence to move forward with more alignment, self-leadership, and inner power.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About the ELI
How much does the Energy Leadership Index cost?
The full Energy Leadership Index experience (including the assessment and a 90-minute 1:1 debrief) is $300.
How is the ELI different from other assessments?
Most assessments (like Enneagram or Myers-Briggs) are personality-based, which means they measure traits that stay fairly consistent over time. The ELI is attitudinal, which means it measures your current mindset and energy levels. These things can shift with self-awareness, coaching, and intention. It doesn’t tell you who you are. It reveals how you’re showing up, and how to shift.
Can I take the Energy Leadership Index on my own?
Nope, and that’s what makes it powerful. The ELI is only available through iPEC-certified coaches, which ensures that your results are interpreted with depth, care, and professional insight. You’ll take the assessment on your own, but the real value comes from the guided debrief.
Is the Energy Leadership Index backed by research?
Yes. The ELI has been studied for its impact on life satisfaction, stress levels, leadership effectiveness, and even financial gain. It’s used by major organizations like Boeing, IKEA, and the U.S. Coast Guard to develop more conscious, resilient leaders. If you’re a data-lover, feel free to email me and I’ll send you a few research white papers.
